Just thought I would put this question out and see do we still like Xmas as much as we used to be as a kid. I always like Xmas and love all those Xmas songs:
White Christmas,
walking in a winter wonderland,
Jingles bells,
I wish it could be christmas everyday,
merry christmas everyone,
Santa claus is coming to town,
let it snow,
have yourself a merry christmas,
rockin around the christmas tree,
when the child was born,
all I want for christmas is you
last christmas.
Is it just me being old and out of touch, so I still love xmas and its song so much or people just don’t xmas as important as when they were a kid? Is it because young people nowadays prefer R&B and Hip-Hop rather than a feel good cheesy xmas songs? when was the last time we really had a xmas song as a xmas no.1 like it used to be? I don’t really care if it is x factor winner, pop star or R&B star who sing or product it but a xmas no.1 should be a xmas song not just another cover of someone’s song for xmas no.1 spot.
My favourite xmas song is: Last christmas by Wham of course (I know, I know it never made it to no.1 (No.2). what is your favourite.
and of course, Aimee Mann’s Christmas album ‘Drifting in the Snow’, does a superb Aimee style interpretation of Jimmy Webb’s ‘Whatever happened to Christmas’:
Happy listening! Don’t accept mediocrity on the airwaves! Upgrade your music taste now!
This track is from the Bob Dylan Chrismas album and I think this has just replaced the Pogues and Kirsty McColl as my favourite. I’ll have to wait and see if it has annoyed the hell out of me by the time Xmas is over to be sure.
