I like big engines but i do like the environment as well! this is extremist. They should spend time and money stopping the drestruction of the amazon, so we can ride or drive what we fancy

Iggy, that’s fine, it’s the SUV-Massive in urban areas that people frown upon I think, there’s just no reason for one, besides your own insecurities. Then again, everyone’s entitled to own what they like, but as Cezar says, you have to think about the environment as well nowadays!
Dirty Busses pumping out crap through London.
Trains pulling out of Paddington Station throwing clouds of Diesel fumes into the air.
People sitting in their air conditioned offices, burning extra electricity.
People flying off on holiday burning tonnes of aviation fuel.
Leaving lights on when you leave a room
Leaving TV’s, PC’s, stereo’s etc etc on standby burning electricity.

id love a land rover, but i would go off road in it, i just dont get why people buy the things and drive them round the city

I agree with the point about people using them as a fashion accessory, and agree that they are totally unpractical and inappropriate to use solely for, lets say, the school run or nipping to Tesco.
However, they are necessary for some other purposes, and I just get a bit hacked off everytime people decide to have a go at owners of 4x4’s. Mine is a LandRover Discovery, and is used off road, over farm land. It is not a Chelsea Tractor that is never going to see a muddy field.
Oh…… and I’ve also put myself out to help other people in none 4x4’s when they’ve got bogged down at country fairs because it’s rained on the car-park/field. They all like four wheel drive then, when I pull them out!
I use the bike for commuting, even through the winter. I too like the environment and am a fully subscribed member of the BASC (British Association for Shooting and Conservation). I’ve even got a bird feeder in my garden. Please don’t accuse me of killing the planet.

Today they’ve picked on the 4x4s & are using the issue as a smokescreen to get tougher anti private vehicle legislation through - they can’t attack the whole car/bike issue head on, so they’ve chosen to demonise a sector of it & it’s working - divide & rule in practice!
And if you don’t think they’re out to get bikes as well then you’re living in a bit of a dreamworld, I truly expect that within 5 years the congestion charging exemption for bikes will only apply to those of 150cc or less.
This is not going to go down well but surly I’m not the only person who feels this way
Da Artist never got a sports bike to try and save the environment I got one because they’re fun, fast and I just had to have one skipping between traffic and helping the environment is just a bonus
Same goes for 4*4’s I want one because I want one the chances are my Range Rover would only ever go off road when it’s climbing the pavement to get into my drive, she would have a nice sound system slick wheels and only ever carry more than just me on the weekend when the boys go out on the pull etc, I love the environment as much as the next guy but what happened to us all, what happened to being greedy and selfish and honest.
Ferrari’s kill the environment will spend most of its time stuck in London traffic and can only carry two people but so fu**ing what, what happened to just enjoying life’s little pleasures?

P.S Ill be long gone before the environment says that’s it you humans have abused me for to long eat sunrays and die & I have no plans on ever having kids so what do I care…. Da youth of today.

people giving others grief for the SUV thing in town is stupid. 
any large block or performance engine if used heavily has the capacity to chomp fuel. not even that many of the SUV’s have all that big engines anyway (many have a 2L or less and put out naff all power). an engine uses very little bhp to maintain road speeds in town and in heavy traffic there is little acceleration as you’re queuing.
most are effectively a tall family car with soggy suspension. they make dick all difference in town in terms of the space they use up - heavy goods/commerical vehicles are bigger offenders in that respect and are less well maintained so in many cases put out proportionately worse emissions. SUV’s are at least comfortable, can carry more people effectively (back seats in most cars are a joke) for the same road space and they have greater viseability.
cant say i want one but can respect others having one. who wants everyone to like the same thing?
in the states its a bit different tho, every other car is a 6litre truck and most states don’t appear to have an MoT…
