What Could It Be?

I’ve noticed recently that I seem to get more engine braking than I remember my bike having. It’s not noticeable if I free wheel, so it must be something engine related.

Also, I’ve just done less than 30mpg for the first time. http://www.fuelly.com/driver/andycr15/cb1000r

I had been thinking I would wait for it’s service, due in another 1,100 miles, but maybe I need to get it seen sooner?

dirty air filter?

I’ll endeavour to figure out how I get to my air filter on my next day off

Could it be as simple as I need to increase my idling speed now it’s got colder?

not noticed anything on mine…

Try some Redex (or similar product) as it available in most petrol stations. Could make a difference and its only a 5er a bottle. Remember that the dose stated on the bottle is for a 60L car tank and not a 13-18L motorcycle tank! Just under a quarter of a bottle will be sufficient for your bike.

Put a couple of cherries in with your next full tank of petrol. They soak up the carbon and can help to reduce cylinder damage…

Cherries?

Why not apples? :ermm:

Because apples would have to be cut where as cherries drop straight in

Daws- exactly. Plus cherries have stones in them and these can add an extra 1 or 2 HP because of the added mass in the centre of the fruit…

What about crab apples?

I have loads of crab apples in the garden - I could go into business selling carbon credits to developing nations

Fruit and veg doesn’t even go in me… it’s not going in my bike!

Crab apples are too dry, it has to be cherries…

Grapes work too but there a little bit spongey

Is it April 1st already?

I’d like to see the real science backing this one up.

thanks for saying that, i thought i was going mad reading it
