What bike?

I’m thinking about getting a different bike mainly because of a bad back, shoulder and neck.

But one thing I’ve been considering lately is my leg position once my feet are on the pegs. I’m 6’ 5" and would like something where my legs aren’t at/over 90 degrees bent once my feet are on the pegs.

So, what are the options?

Ktm is a tall mans bike . Superduke or supermoto or adventure .

Yamaha Tenere 660 - Big John (WestieJ) on this forum has one of these, and he’s a big lad too!

Thought about adventure bike? I’m 6-foot and have to have my Triumph Tiger’s seat on the lowest setting - and the 800XC is two inches taller than the standard 800 (which I have).

a cruiser with forward controls. just dont expect as much fun as your current machine. will sort out the aches and pains though

Depending on the engine size and of the middle weight and 1000+ trailies will probably suite your needs. You also have the Yam TDM900.

Is there any style of bike or engine you are after?

Once you get used to the foot-forward position on the T’Bird, it’s actually very comfortable and takes a lot of strain off the arms and shoulders. I’ve only done 187 miles on it so far and pretty much all of that has been commuting in pissing rain, so I haven’t had much of a chance to let it rip yet. There’s been the odd moment leaving Mr Addison Lee in my wake with a satisfying roar and I look forward to much more of that.

I use my bike every day for commuting, straight up the A2 from Kent into London. So will need something that can handle quick filtering.

Not quite sure the T’bird fits the bill.

No particular style or engine really (but probably bigger than a 600), just interested in what will have the best seating position.

We-ell… I commute every day from the Crystal Palace area to the City. OK, I can’t fling the T’Bird around like I could the Bonneville, but I filter with the best of them. The extra acceleration makes up for the lack of agility and people can certainly hear you coming!

Where are you based, I can offer test sitting on my Multistrada.

That ergonomics site is pretty good, thanks!

Anyone have any experience on the Yamaha XT660X?

Big trail bikes rock for London filtering. Great view ahead allows much better forward planning.

I use an Africa Twin and it’s great, though I’m only 6 foot. I know a guy who is 6’7" who had an XRV for ages. Bit gutless for an only bike though at 60hp.

I had am xt660 . Not a bad bike but it always felt like it needed a bit more grunt .

That’s exactly what I’m thinking could be a slight problem on the XTX,

I bought the supermoto version . Slapped a pair of remus cans on it . It was fun … But runs out of everything very quickly . Any other moto even a well worn in BMW funduro is quicker .

edit … And as if to prove my point . On my ride home I got into a head to head off the lights with an XTX with twin Akras … He beat me… but only by a shave and he was not pulling away … I was using a 650 engine made in the early 70s :w00t:
