I’m thinking about getting a different bike mainly because of a bad back, shoulder and neck.
But one thing I’ve been considering lately is my leg position once my feet are on the pegs. I’m 6’ 5" and would like something where my legs aren’t at/over 90 degrees bent once my feet are on the pegs.
Thought about adventure bike? I’m 6-foot and have to have my Triumph Tiger’s seat on the lowest setting - and the 800XC is two inches taller than the standard 800 (which I have).
Once you get used to the foot-forward position on the T’Bird, it’s actually very comfortable and takes a lot of strain off the arms and shoulders. I’ve only done 187 miles on it so far and pretty much all of that has been commuting in pissing rain, so I haven’t had much of a chance to let it rip yet. There’s been the odd moment leaving Mr Addison Lee in my wake with a satisfying roar and I look forward to much more of that.
We-ell… I commute every day from the Crystal Palace area to the City. OK, I can’t fling the T’Bird around like I could the Bonneville, but I filter with the best of them. The extra acceleration makes up for the lack of agility and people can certainly hear you coming!
Big trail bikes rock for London filtering. Great view ahead allows much better forward planning.
I use an Africa Twin and it’s great, though I’m only 6 foot. I know a guy who is 6’7" who had an XRV for ages. Bit gutless for an only bike though at 60hp.
I bought the supermoto version . Slapped a pair of remus cans on it . It was fun … But runs out of everything very quickly . Any other moto even a well worn in BMW funduro is quicker .
edit … And as if to prove my point . On my ride home I got into a head to head off the lights with an XTX with twin Akras … He beat me… but only by a shave and he was not pulling away … I was using a 650 engine made in the early 70s :w00t:
