my dad is after another bike his 1999 fazer 600 has got to 30k and its being a pain to run in the winter so hes after something abit younger and more reliable.
he would love a fazer 1000 or something similar as he likes the power of the 600 but wants that bit more like when he had a cb900.
it cant have clip on bars as his back hurts and must be able to have a top box fitted for his tools

A Fazer 1000 has more than a bit extra than the CB900 if you’re talking performance.
The FZ1 new shape bike is more still, but early ones had fluffy throttle response (cured easily with a black box so shouldn’t let that put him off).
The 2001 to 2005 model which used the original carbureted R1 engine is a popular choice…Probable better comfort wise than the newer FZ1 models, certainly better storage at the back and better provisions for pillions.
Seems like a natural choice for your dad.
well lets just say that cb900 was port and polished gas flowed head some fancy cam forged pistons balanced crank cb1100 rad and oil rad with a sexy vance and hines sidewinder fully system oh yeah and mag wheels

Comfy, fast, plenty of power and handles pretty nice.You can pick them up for decent money, too.
A lot of mates have got them and love them.I’ve had a spin on one, and the motor is proper smooth (although too smooth for my liking - I like to get a kick up the arse when the power comes in)
Do the same on a recent FZ1 and you’ll be pushing 200 BHP or close with a chassis that will better cope with that and decent suspension
