To be fair the picture you saw was of a trip North of the Arctic Circle where we had to take a bit more luggage than usual. The main rule is take as little as possible and there is less to worry about or carry
I don’t think it was - this was going back a year or two ago when I was looking at options and Mrs J posted a pic of you two with the tank bag and the black rucksack that she was carrying. It wasn’t huge, but it was about the same depth as she was and my wife said she was not going to be carrying something like that all day
It did? I haven’t seen a bad review of yet:unsure: MCN gave it 4.5/5, VD rated it too. But if it’s not your type of bike then I’m wasting my breath regardless
I’t’s quite funny that it’s a competition between the Tiger & Multistrada, I’ve been looking at the Multistrada as my next bike for a little while now…the only thing that’s putting me off is that it’s a Ducati, well known for mechanical issues, so cant understand why peeps are recomending it:doze:
I would trust Ducati. It’s not like you’re buying second-hand and would take all the risk yourself. Warranties are a wonderful thing!
£15k for a Multistrada in the spec I want though. I don’t think that’ll be happening any time soon. Not with a wedding coming up next year! Who knows though.
I think you’re missing some of the best options on the road off the list there…
The Bandit 1250GT that I had was a stunning machine, and if I was going touring again I’d be all over it. Fully faired with a proper luggage system (touring on a speed triple two up would be a feking nightmare imo and not much fun or very practical) The bandit was evenly balanced, had plenty of grunt, was fun to ride fully laden or out in essex on a sunday ride but best of all, it was an absolute bargain. I picked mine up, on the road for £6,200 brand new… Mine took me all over the alps, covering 250+miles a day on it for two weeks at a time, I did Andermatt to Calais (900kms) in a day and could walk after it, it took me all over the UK/Wales and all over France, sometimes one up, sometimes two (the bigger trips were two up)…
The sprint would be another option that I’d go for anyday of the week, the only thing that puts me off is the price-tag, when I can get a bandit 1250 for substantially less.
There are several bikes missing. The Honda CBF1000F, and my bike as well the TDM. Two up on the St Georges day and hit the rev limiter, nice to know what the bike can do.
And to be honest there is little between the DL650 and TDM900. Not much to much in the power difference, both have excellent fuel economy, great range and hard lugguage as well.
My missus and I have travelled two-up quite a bit on my Tiger 1050 and it’s been a very capability 2 person + luggage tourer. The Tiger has also given me bullet-proof reliability over the past 3 years.
I’m tempted by the MultiStrada sometimes, particulary because of the more sophisticated suspension options, 150bhp and the gushing reviews. But at the end of the day my Tiger is a better value package I think - it goes hard, it stops well, it handles well in the twisties, it’s comfy, I can load it up with luggage, and it’s no worse a looker than the beak-nosed Ducati.
All for 8K new in 2008 inc ABS and accessories - more now I guess but I suspect still a better value package than the Ducati.
