I know some people on here dis-agree with our campaign to stop the bike parking tax, but the facts are that Westminster are using us to make money and are not providing us with improved parking provisions as they first claimed, we must protest against that and we must argue that if they want to charge us then they must provide a service, at the moment this parking charge experiment is nothing more than a money raising scheme, which doesn’t benefit London motorcyclists, instead we still have to park in cramped bays scratching our bikes and then be charged for what?.. nothing, and if we don’t pay get a parking ticket which is the same as a car?.. £120 it is unacceptable so for anyone sitting on the fence, please read this below and hopefully you will support our campaign to get this charge scraped and then fight for installation of better motorcycle parking provisions in London for all, we need to show them we will not sit down on this one! Thank you.
These are actual figures sent from within Westminster today, Kevin Goad sent them. NOW TELL ME WHAT YOU FEEL…! MORE OBJECTIONS READY TO GO OUT I HOPE! You may object officially by email against the parking tax here: http://www.notobikeparkingfees.com/object-by-e-mail/ What are we? Piggy banks? None of it is ringed off for better parking provisions for motorcycles, they can do whatever they want with our money.

A couple of months ago I parked in Northumberland Avenue for a couple of days and at the time I was advised by a traffic warden who was checking the bikes there, that once you had paid the daily charge, you could park in any bay anywhere, including an empty car bay. I’ve not risked trying it as I don’t park regularly and I’d like some official confirmation that it wouldn’t result in a ticket first. Does anyone know what’s the score on this? It certainly would solve the problem of limited space. Mind you I can see Westminster not being happy if we all did it, as they would me missing revenue from car parking as a consequence.
You can park in another Westminster bike bay once you have paid the daily charge. The charge for car bays is different (could be as much as several pounds and hour!) so I doubt you can park in one of them having only paid for a bike bay. You can park i na car bay as long as you pay the same charge as a car.
You cannot park in a car bay in Westminster, the charge is different.
If you pay the daily fee of £1.60 (inc 10p confirmation text) excluding your mobile phone call costs. You may only park in a designated “Solo M/Cs Only” bay.
The thing that pisses me off is. I actually live in Westminster!
My 2 bikes are parked underground at work and at home so no problem there. If though I want to pop to the local shops in my area (Westminster) I have to pay 1.50 for each time I do it. This would include getting some shopping, or just running some errands. As a resident I would be doing this more than most (well I guess commuters would do more/same) the point being that this is actually the area I live in and not an area I would travel to work for.
Doesn’t seem right or fair that a resident of Westminster still gets charged the same as a non resident!
