WESTFIELD

Hi folks - I know that you can park bikes free in Westfield Centre car park Shepherds Bush.

Specifically:

Is there anything there to secure the bike too?

I know that people have lost bikes there* so I would like to attach it to something.

*I have heard of a guy who had his Ducati nicked from there but the bike age/model put it high on the thief list and it was targeted by a couple of pros who rode in on a speed triple - plus it seems that they only had to bust the steering lock - no other security in place.

My bike is old and unfashionable and would never make it onto a thiefs shopping list but I like to take precautions.

Thanks for any info.

there are barriers on the pavement inside as you come in. I’ve chained mine there. its where all the bikes park

Good solid bars to chain to… I’d consider it a safe place to park although I’ve heard the wives tales about thefts there etc

Thanks guys  The fact that it has barriers to chain to is excellent news.

The stats say that 100 bikes are stolen in the UK every day - and that about half of this figure are in London.

On my walk into work after parking up I see a lot of decent bikes with not even a disc lock - the guy who had his Ducati 848 nicked from westfield was only relying on a steering lock.
