West Country Road Trip

mid to end of july i am planning a 3 day road trip to the west country, the help i need is finding places to visit and places to stay.at the moment the aim head to south west, route to be decided. any pointers any one can give would be greatly appreciated.

Give Leggy Pete a shout via PM - he’s down that way now. May have some pointers for ya

depends what ya want but you could go via stonehenge, yeovil, ilminster, taunton (cider mmm) across to minehead up over exmooor to barnstable way, bideford then head to oakhampton, nip across dartmoor to see prison in princetown back up to exeterchuck a right towards honiton, then coast road to bournemouth then make ya way home, nice little jolly and some cracking roads on that route.

Couldn’t have put it better myself:cool::slight_smile:

cheers guys, any ideas on accomadation, cheap and cheerful would be best.

any point in going as far as tintagel and arthur’s castle?

cheers keti pm sent

get yourself a tent wolfie, stop as and where you want, plenty of good eateries down that part of the word.

looking at the route I posted contemplating it myself now why should you have all the fun !!

The roads to Tintagel are a bit on the narrow side so you have to take it reasonably slow, the castle is a pig to get to and it really aint worth the effort.B&B’s are not cheap in Devon and Cornwall you will pay £60 pp/pn upwards but they are generally good quality. We go there quite a lot, 2/3 time a year and thats what we pay. There may be cheaper but you gets what you pays for;)

It sure does look very tempting:cool:

Would be back to my old stomping grounds, served 6 years in forces down there and love the area, exmoor and dartmoor have some blinding roads, get to the coast and good beaches what more could you want

thanks for the tips fella’s and of course i am bumping this
