“North Wales Police say parts of its headquarters in Colwyn Bay have suffered “substantial damage” in a fire which broke out in the roof.”
Chief Constable Richard Brunstrom who was working out of the force area on Tuesday said he was pleased everyone was evacuated safely.
He said he was in close contact with Assistant Chief Constable Ian Shannon who is in charge and the cause has been established as faulty electical cabling in the roof. Mr Brunstrom said the speed of the electrons was clearly too high and steps would be taken to reduce their average speed as they entered the building. This will be achieved by educating school children about the dangers of high speed electrons as well as placing speed cameras at the entry to the building to slow them down. Mr Brunstrom has set a target reduction of 60% by the year 2010.Mr Brunstrom said policing “has largely been unaffected by the fire”.
