Training for another triathlon at the end of September, so I’ve been using the leg powered two wheeler when the weather has been nice for the 40mile round trip, to and from work.
Nearly home on Tuesday evening when a driver overtaking me on a bend clipped me. Cue somersault; “oh ****!!”; hit the road and pray the following cars stop in time. Familiar feeling of a broken shoulder, other miscellaneous injuries, and my lovely road bike becoming a brompton.
Guess it’s pubic transport for the next few weeks. Bored of the sling already.
Sorry to hear this buddy - did the driver stop - you get their details etc?
Ironically the driver who hit me was a nurse. Her first aid was substantially superior to her driving.
Hope you heal soon Jamie, and that the driver stopped
damn mate! sorry to hear/read this!
hope you can still do the triathlon or are you doing a different one:
crutches, wheelchair,floatie?
armchair olymcics for you for a while then!
Sorry to hear this chap - its pants when you are getting into some decent shape and then you get knocked back…litterally.
Hope you are back on the move again soon
Sheesh, what is it with bikes and motorbikes getting flattened this week- I’ve seen 3 already and read about too many more.
Hope you heal fast and can find a way to keep fit in the training break!
Stay safe…
Thats terrible. My cousin was taken out by a car on his push bike at the weekend.
Pleased she stopped. Gutted about the broken bones.
GWS
Less injuries the few times I’ve been knocked off my motorbike. A lot to be said for motorcycle safety gear.
I was helmeted on the push bike, but gravel rash at 25mph on bare legs is deep and nasty.
Oh mate sorry to hear that.
As a racing cyclist I’ve had my fair share of crashes and I know how it hurts, my clavicle still sticks up in the air from one of them.
Get well soon.
Sorry to hear this, I hope you recover quickly from your injuries.I used to cycle to work but lost my nerve with all the cars passing by so near, especially when I was overtaking buses. I knew it would be a matter of time before some idiot hit me from behind. So I opted to ride a motorcycle instead, a far safer option. It seems you have already reached the same conclusion.
Perhaps the cycle leg of the triathlon should be changed to motorcycles! That would separate the men from the boys - imagine having to do the swimming/running in full leathers :w00t:
