Just saw on the news that Boris has announced a trial will start from January.
News said it was during rush hour, so not sure if that means we can’t out of rush hour.
It’s also a trial so let’s hope it goes well and it becomes permanent.

Is if the cynic in me but…I think bus drivers will be told to make loads of complaints…

!!
Yes the post police are out today!!!
A lot of the lanes are time restricted anyway, i.e. it is only a bus lane Mon-Fri 6am to 10am and 4pm to 7pm. So that is what is meant by rush hour.
I have found quite a few bus drivers to be very courteous to bikers, with them waiting while the traffic moves off so you can nip into the gap in front of them.
Nick Ferrari was talking on LBC this morning about the use of bus lanes by bikes. I’ve cut out most all the ads so if you wanna listen it’s in this MP3 file, lasts for 15 mins.
Thanks, fella - jolly nice of you to do that!
Downloading it now…
from the 5th Jan 2009!!! :D:D:D:D
I hope it is 2009.
Eman

smiled:).
Here’s the official website. Note that this move only applies to Red Routes, and sidecars are excluded. (can’t remember when I last saw one anyhow!)

Tut tut - flip-front lid open, riding in a T-shirt, undertaking a scooter…

Thanks for posting this, Muntu.
I fear celebrations are premature; who knows what decision will be made at the end of the 18 months?
This bit from the TfL site is probably very important:
“Feedback will be formally accepted between 5 January and 5 July 2009.”
We should all provide feedback during this time, and encourage others to as well.
You can bet your bottom dollar the London Cycling Campaign will be doing the same thing…
Yep.
I hope it works out; there shouldn’t be rivalry between cyclists and motorcyclists - we all have to deal with the same type of dangers.
If there are more two-wheeled vehicles in the bus lanes, I reckon cars will be less likely to be naughty and duck into them to jump queues. Hopefully it’ll make everyone more aware of what’s going on around them - be they on two or four wheels.
As I said just over a week ago -
