i just been told about wax sprays
they restore waterproofing i guess??
is that true? if so whats the best brand to use?
Yes, they do - but the waterproof systems of various textiles etc are not created equal and some need different waterproofing systems than others.
I’ve used a lot of waterproofing sprays on my trainers (I’m a bit of a sneaker freak) and they do work.
I couldnt really recommend brands though… I just raid the cupboard at home hehe.
I had mixed results using them. Found that they were very effective, causing the water to bead off. However it never lasted that long due to all the road grim that builds on your jacket rendering it useless.
The key is to get a good quality Gore-Tex jacket in my opinion, preferably one where the Gore-Tex is bonded to the outer shell.
Depending on what they are made of textiles may be better waterproofed with wash-in waterproofers.
However you should be very careful to follow the instructions - may need two products and careful washing - so as not to ruin the fabric and let even more rain in.
