water mains off - water still running

Never assume there are cut off valves for bog flushers, basins, sinks, baths, whatever. They have only been a legal requirement for about ten years.

My parents old place (1950’s built) only had a stop valves for the incoming main and the cold water storage feed to the hot water cylinder and there are still thousands, possibly millions, of flats and houses still like that. Made even changing a tap washer a real pain in the bum job until I fitted isolation valves to every thing.
