Was I right?

Was on the phone outside work, and some inconsiderate a*se has parked his BMW FShite leaning on top of my bike - pegs and exhaust receiving the main brunt of the bikes weight.

No way of moving my bike, without moving his off of mine.

I got so cheesed off, I managed to get his bike out (no disc lock) and wheeled it across the road on a yellow line.

Now. Obviously I moved my bike away, but I’m starting to wonder if I’ve done the right thing. I’m just thinking about if he remembered it was my bike and comes back to damage it?

Not bothered if the bikes werent touching, but the fact it was bending my exhaust in by about 1/2" makes me feel really p*ssed off.

By the way the reg number is LA56 VRX (silver BMW with top box) - if its yours, PM me, thanks

It’d be tempting to leave it where it is, but behavior breeds behavior, so I’d imagine despite the crap parking there’d be some retaliation.

Is there no way it’d fit the gap without doing a monster truck impression?

Are you SURE it wasn’t just a cleverly disguised scooter?

It probably would have fit if he had moved another bike on the right a foot or so. But then we get into the realms of moving another mans bike. Something I’d never do (unless obviously the person in question sets the bar by doing what he has done).

Might go move it, thinking about it - and leave a message on it?

Should of left it and taken a picture.

Yer if this sh!t happens to be I usually take a pic of the other bike with number plate in pick any damage report it to the insurance company… he will not have a leg to stand on

once happened to me with a car in my own car park came down and he had literally parked his car on my bike, luckily I did not need it otherwise I would have been screwed as there was a wall the other side, so took a load of photos until the car had gone then did a full chec of the bike.

i would have just moved it so i could get out…

done see no prob in that…so long as theres no marks or damage to said bike.

i think you did the right thing, i would of kicked the sh*ter over, cheecky git!

Felt a bit guilty, so went to move it back but it had gone.

Was tempted Stace, but I park there on a daily basis if you get my drift.
Had I have been somewhere on a one off situation…

Sorry Ratty, don’t agree with that one - if the bikes are touching metal to metal, some sort of damage will occur. I know it will only be small, but on a bike I’ve picked up from the showroom brand new, I don’t want anyone else to be making any marks on it.

Would have moved it, like I move theirs normally - but they are normally scooters, but we do have a yellow and silver BMW owner that likes to move scooters and bikes in the bay that I use

Id only move a bike if I had to, there’s always another space.

I know people whose fairing has been cracked because the bike has been carelessly moved.

It’s like you’ve gone mad sometimes when you return to your bike and start wondering ‘Did I park it there?’

It’s a carpy situation, and I feel sorry for you (and I think it’s big of you to talk about it on here so honestly), but tbh I don’t think it’s very realistic to expect to park in any sort of shared parking area and not get some sort of scratch or mark in the end.

I don’t think it’s a good thing. But I think you’ve got to accept that it probably will happen.

I know that whenever I think about getting a shiny new bike, especially when I’m almost convincing myself to get a bigger, more expensive one, then it’s the knowledge that I’m going to use it every day and will have to park in public spaces plenty of the time that convinces me to keep riding my old, slightly scuffed, current bike. I’d be gutted to see my new bike scratched (as you understandably also are). I can still remember the first scratch on my current bike. It makes you have all sorts of irrational hate and want to nuke every other thing in the same bay. But eventually you get over it.

I’ve had this problem before, and only the other day. What I used to do was wheel the bike out into the road and leave it there. Right or wrong, it made me feel better. I just don’t understand why people can’t respect other peoples bikes.

I think leaving it to get a parking ticket is a step too far though

Let me get this straight, You moved the man’s bike and left it on a yellow line because it was leaning on your bike?

lol if you were REALLY twisted and if it pissed you off that much, you could have chained it to the nearest lamppost  then when he turns up with an angle grinder, ring the cops to tell them someone was trying to nick a bike… (small problem with that is that he will have a key to the bike, going some way to proving ownership, but i guess that will be the least of his problems)…:Whistling:

It wasnt ‘just’ touching my bike, it was also ‘bending’ my exhaust. If he’s got the attitude of not caring if he damages someone’s bike, then a parking ticket will cost him less than if I decided to damage his bike in return.

Do it Cut his Fing head off!!!:w00t:

I completely understand your actions, and your possible regret about doing it because you park there every day.

I am devastated if anyone touches or damages my bike and most likely would have done worse – and regretted it even more in case he/she takes revenge.

I hope this is just a one-off for you. He/she is obviously a complete moron.

Playing devil’s advocate here could it have just been ‘accidental’ bad parking- just possibly might he not have realised he was leaning his bike on your exhaust? :ermm: Or was one or other of your bikes had been moved by a third party trying to park their own bike.:ermm:

Ummm on second thoughts that’s crap… you should have just gone back and set light to it. Problem solved (apart from the criminal damage issue)

Maybe somebody else (who doesn’t mind messing with other peoples property) moved it rather than the owner having parked badly?

'll be well p+ssed off at this behviour (and the ticket) if this is the case;)

iId keep a close eye on your bike for a while if I were you.
