Wanted: dual-sport bike around £1000

I’m looking for a bike for short commutes and green lanes. Electric start, not too big an engine (250-400cc), relatively light, in good condition, for around £1000. Have been saving up, this is my Christmas present

Anyone selling anything interesting?

Daytona 955?

You selling it for a grand?

At that price it’s either going to be old or small . Try searching for XT350 I would think that would be the best bet at that money .

xt350 doesn’t seem to have electric start. With my iffy knee I don’t want to be kick-starting all the time, don’t want to make it worse, I like skiing too much!

What do people think of this?

15bhp ? I think you might hanker for more , that’s going to be slow and dull very quickly .

the ccm 230s run the honda 230 engines and tbh are tiny tiny tiny you would be better and cheaper to get a dt 125. i love mine and offroad it can keep up with the big boys all day long infact with certain supermoto wheels i recall having to wait for the ktm boys.

i would say see if you can save up a little bit more and wait a little wile and get a drz 400. i just checked the prices and must say atm there crazy on all offroad style bikes i guess as its allmost snow time people are in high demand.

It’s not really a question of “save up”, it’s a question of what I’m allowed to spend ;-). I negotiated £1000 because when I started looking there were a couple of late model DR350’s with electric start going for about that kind of money. Now, as you say, everything seems to have gone up – although I didn’t realise it was because of the snow!

Drz 400 is nice dual sport bike, probably need bit bigger budget or find less then perfect one …

You think it`s too little, make an offer.

You buy LB heritage and gravitas and it knows it`s own way home.

For the right bike I’d probably go a bit higher than 1k - maybe even up to 1.5 if needed, but for a bike that really doesn’t need anything doing to it. That seems to put the DRZ out of range for me. I think even that one, with what it needs doing, will probably end up the auction at 1700 at least… :expressionless:

Anyone on here selling a dual-sport bike?

i know someone selling a DRZ400 2005/2006 model 5k (ish) on the clocks. with on and off toad wheels, mot&tax, ok condition, carbon can company exhaust.

£1500
its a bargain, as far as im aware it has no problems…

i really want it but i dont have the cash! :pensive:

PM’s exchanged with Daws, here’s keeping my fingers crossed

FINGERS CROSSED!

Im actually excited for you…

Me too

Just to say, Daws1989 is an absolute STAR. Bought the bike, just got it home! Looks to be a very honest bike at a fair price. Gotta get it cleaned up and do a couple of things to it, then I’ll put up some photos etc. I’m frankly over the moon

Thanks Bret!!
