Walworth Road

Does anyone here commute to work via the Walworth Road?

I’ve been going via this road now for a couple of months and something has been puzzling me . Near Argos, there is an island in the middle of the road about 15 metres long. Now nearly everyday there is usually a tailback of traffic, nothing major, maybe have to sit in the queue for 1 minute tops if I can’t filter through. I would say about 90% of bikesand scooters ride down the middle of the island.

So either its not a pedestrian island or 90% of riders on my way to work in the morning are utter c*nts.

It’s got a kerb around it - looks like a pedestrian island to me.

I certainly wouldn’t ride down it.

I wouldn’t ride down that either… :Whistling:

Down take the walworth road take the a2 or Camberwell new road

Don’t think you should go on it. It has a keep left sign at the start.

Have seen plenty disregarding it though and even buses driving on it at times, overtaking cyclists!

Loads of folks go round the other side at pedestrian crossings further up too.

You gotta keep your wits about you on that road.

yeah, think I’m gonna go back to my old route - Brixton - Oval - Kennington - Waterloo. The Walworth Road is one f*cked up place to ride!

Ah yes, I know that bit. The buses seem to kindly get as close to that central “pavement” bit as possible to stop 'bikes getting through. When it’s absolutely stationery there (which it frequently is), it IS possible to sneak down the left of the traffic, but you have to take it slow. I’m the bloke on a Thunderbird squeezing through a gap fractionally narrower than a Thunderbird…
