So, my girlfriend and I need to move out of our current place as it’s being sold and it looks like a great deal on a flat has come up through a friend of a friend. Only thing is it’s in Walton on Thames and I know nothing about the area as I’m a born and bred North Londoner (NW11). My brother lives in Kingston, so I know that general part of London a bit, but I’m wondering if anyone here can give me a rough idea of what Walton’s like to live in.
Hmmmmmm… kinda what I was thinking. We’ll probably go check it out this weekend but it turns out its not actually in the TFL zone system so a monthly season ticket is about £274!!
The town centre ain’t that bad, I used to go canoeing in Shepperton and would go through here to get there and stop off for food every now and then. It’s always looked ok over the years. Plus there is a Aston Martin garage which is worth a nose at if that’s your bag
They’re spending a lot of money on developing the town centre, so it is much better than it was.
Like most places, Walton has some bad areas, but lots of it is nice. As mentioned, the river walks are nice and there is a place called Apps Court farm (or something like that) that has a quad bike course, archery and so on. It also hosts a weekly Sunday car boot sale, and as it’s on the road to Kingston from Walton, traffic can be bad. As it can be at the main traffic lights by the Aston garage (4 way controlled and you each get a go).
Whenever I think Walton, I think traffic, but as I said there are some nice parts.

Cj,
Bloke I used to work with had a flat there, worth checking out the local scene, property is relatively cheap to buy, so I guess that’s reflected in the rent?
Gavin, as you like your Astons…my girlfriends work have quoted their 1st one 77 Aston… That limited edition costing well over a mill, allegedly quicker or on par with the Veyron… Parts alone would pay for a flat in Walton :w00t: this is just a minor repair :Whistling:
Mikes workshop is in Walton on Thames
We are looking to move from East Finchley there as soon as we find somewhere we want to buy.
I really like it there
The town centre is not a dump…it has been totally done up (hence things being so expensive to buy) with a shopping centre
It has great gyms, one of which is 24 hours and the train service into London is pretty good.
I cant wait to move
Imagine Golders Green High Street without the Hassidic Jews and Rovs - rplace them with little old ladies, well turned out, towing tartan shopping trollies and you will get the idea.
( Ex NW2/NW11 boy who worked in Walton for 3 years…)
