Visit to the LAA helipad

Thank you to macP for getting me involved with helping them out doing their repairs or i’d never have got the oppurtunity to visit their helipad…what an AWESOME experiance:D whilst we were on the helipad the alarms went off noting they had a callout so we even got to see(and video them) taking off and landing and the guy who showed us round gave me a very interesting history lesson on the whitechapel hospital as well:w00t:
Right who knows how to upload the clip of them taking off?

Go Samm!!!

:smiley: :w00t::slight_smile:

Nice one!

Glad you enjoyed the visit! I know they’re very happy to have you on board to help!

Well done for stepping up to help - it’s a great example of how people can help by donating time.

No worries, makes me feel safer knowing if any of us bikers have an accident these guys will be there to help:cool:
In the second from last pic i was contemplating knicking the chopper(can you tell by the mischeivious look on my face!):w00t:

Ah, but do you know your cyclics from your collectives? :hehe::w00t: I tried hovering a 'copter once, nearly crashed it, not wise to let a complete novice loose on one of these machines as the pilot learnt to his near-cost  Love the name of the author of the standard text on this subject: Wagtendonk

Nice pics, by the way

Great up there isn’t it and a proper eye opener. Oh and well done.

Great photos - sorry can’t help with the video instructions but Smiled should be able to help:)

This is such a nice thing you’re doing Wasp! What a great experience as well eh! You’re a star!

if i can, i be happy to help out, weekends only tho due to working in the week:)

i have nothing but total and utter respect for HEMS…a tough job, and as a biker/londoner im so glad we have them here in london;)

cool pictures! it blows my mind that the thing isnt government funded…

what you helping them with sam?

lucky you wasp:cool: if i’d know you was there would have come see you, i work in the part of the hospital that is being built. i was up on the new heli pad the other day its scary up that high:hehe:

Well as i saw for myself today their kit takes a lot of punishment and gets ripped and torn and zips quite often are’nt strong enough, The specialist kit bags they use take some punishment too so i have offered to repair all their kit i.e their flying suits and kitbags and replace bust zips for free:D for as long as they need me i will happily do my bit to help, Their flying suits cost nearly 400 quid each and they have to last as there is’nt enough dosh in the kitty to keep buying new stuff and if you imagine they could get called out to train derailments etc and have to kneel down on the gravel emankments and the like so their knees get worn out and torn etc every situation takes its toll on their kit:w00t: as i said before we need to do much more to help these guys as we are lucky to have them and never know when we may need them:pinch:

Nice one  Definitely wish I’d said Hi to you at the bike demo now (but I was seriously concerned the bike the other side of me was about to go bang).

Damn woulda been nice to see ya Dazza:D and the new helipad is high…would love to jump off that wiv me base jumping chute:w00t: bet its flippin windy up there as well…

oh really, cool! great that you can use your skills to help them in that way…

Well done Waspie, that’s really generous to give your time to help out on an ongoing basis.

Nice one Samm:)
