In the age of smart phones and what not, there’s a lot of “fitness apps”, yer know, measure your cycling, running, weight training and so on. I was just wanting to know who using theses and what you using? I’m using endomondo, mostly because two of my mates use it and it’s good to compare your self to.
They’re pretty good fun if you’ve not used them but, you can set route and try to beat each other at them. I just did a cycling “Parklife” route i made myself,Finsbury Park, Hamstead Heath, Primrose Hill, Regents Park, Hyde Park, St James Park, Battersea Park, Ranelagh Gardens and all the way home again (manor house).
Anyone into this? It’s a great way to spur yourself on with a fitness regime, I’ve done 186km this week.
Any one use endomo wanna join in the fun? Runs off your “smart” phone.
If you wish you wish to add me my name is “Dylan Dylan Dylan”
Used to use MapMyRide for cycling and running. Good at the beginning, but software updates made it not really crap so binned it.
I use “my fitness pal” to monitor everything I eat and all my exercise.
Has a massive database of food and its calorie content.
I use my fitness pal too. Keeps my calorie intake in check.
I tried MapMyRide and Endomondo -
I’ve stuck with Endomondo, the only problem I’ve found is if I let the screen go off, it stops tracking.
I particularly like how you can cycle a route each day and select a time that you want to beat (from your previous rides) and it shows you (and tells you every mile) how you’re doing against your target/best.
If you go to the gym, I don’t think you can beat JeFit -
I used to use Cyclemeter, but now I’ve got a GARMIN Edge 800 for my cycling
https://itunes.apple.com/gb/app/cyclemeter-gps-track-cycling/id330595774?mt=8
it not only does cycling but running etc and also can plan a schedule for half or full marathons
I’d deffo recommend it
Check out HIIT High intensity interval training chuck it in with your distance work your cardio will go through the roof.
I used endomondo & mapmyride for a bit but now use Strava when I can be bothered - splits your ride into segments and tells you how you compare with everyone else who’s ridden that segment. After you log a ride it gives you a list of acheivements - if you’ve beaten your own best time, finished in the top 3 overall for a segment, or a KOM (king of the mountain) if you’re the fastest on a segment.
Gives distance, elevation, graphs & maps too and you can follow friends to see what they’re up to. There’s a premium version with extra bells and whistles but I find the basic version fine.
