Changed the front pads on my VFR1200 yesterday, copper greased the obvious bits but not the back of the pads as they have s/s heat shields, under hard braking they are fine but lightly braking e.g. filtering they squeaky like a squeaky thing?
What are ‘the obvious bits’ if not the back of the pads? Not that I’d say you want to always grease the back of the pads, I’m just not sure where else I’d put copper slip… And why would a stainless steel backing mean the grease wouldn’t work squealing is caused by vibrations, and the copper acts as a filler to make a better mating surface (which is only partly why copper slip beats axle grease here).
