Any one here fitted the Vapour Kit To a bandit 1200, the speedo is now ok, but i still have issues with the Rev counter, no matter which way it is fitted, i have tried it wrapped around the Ht Lead, adding and reducing the amount of wraps, And today getting the Bike ready for the spring/ summer, oil & filter change, and new spark plugs, With the tank off, i wired the Vapour Tachometer straight to the coil +, for number one cyl, but it seems like it is getting to many pulses, showing double the rpm approx, i dont have the some times advertised power wire with built in resistor, almost like as the bike has two coils one for each pair of cylinders like wasted spark its getting double pulses, and i have also insulated the tachometer wire as it is very sensitive and was picking up pulse’s from the other Ht leads, My bike is the Green DogLondon.
Regards Dave,
Hi,
The 2859 model. says for cars, I have just had the Vapour kit checked at Trail Tech UK, and they said on there test bench the Rpm is working fine, i would of liked it tested in real conditions on another 1200 bandit, Just bandits Julian has fitted a few vapour kits he said without any problems,
I had the kit back today and the company free of charge have given me a new rpm lead with a resistor built in to see if this corrects the erratic rpm problem such as idle 1200rpm then jumps to 1700, then back etc, i have tried altering the amount of wraps around the HT lead adding and removing amount of wraps, insulated the Rpm to Ht lead from the other Ht Leads and coil, as it was picking up inductive pulses from them, last resort put the rpm lead to the coil, worse!, was better at the Ht lead, well when i get the time i will remove the tank again, and try with the new resistor type lead, although for the bandit kit it is not normally supplied, you cant go wrong wiring the kit, power is direct to the battery + & -, and the rpm to Ht & the bk wire of the rpm to the frame for earth,
