Canāt speak highly enough of ebike (maybe itāll be different if I ever have to make a claim though lol) the van turned up in about 45 mins, the driver Mark was a lovely fella - although he didnāt stop talking the whole way home hahaha.
Back home now, bit of nail polish remover and a coat hanger got the gunk out and now the bike works fine again with the spare key. So all itās going to cost me is for a new key which aināt too bad.
Iām just going to take some nail polish remover and a bit of coat hanger to work in case it happens again, Iām still going to park in the same place I reckon.
Mark - maybe we can call it an art installation if you get a tail tidy and get rid of that hideous tail hahahaha :w00t:
Bazza - thanks again for helping out mate - I owe you a burger/coffee up the tea hut mate
Glad all is working out but please think about moving it somewhere else for a while (and donāt say where on here, they do look here, it has happened in the past that peopleās bikes have disappeared straight after a photo or a post about parking).
If they have their eye on it, they will come back for it, and isnāt it distinctive? Shiver was right that theyād have been back for it tonight. Hide it for a while if you can, they wonāt go away, which will be unfortunate for some other person, but donāt make it easy for them. Also, they know you know how to circumvent their little trick now so may try something else:angry:
Thanks Jets, yeah I have thought about parking somewhere else, but I donāt trust the NCPs cos anyone could roll up in a van a take the bike from one of those in broad daylight, so I figure the parking bays are the safest place as itās out in the open with people about - which is probably why they do the glue thing cos they donāt want to risk it in broad daylight. There are plenty of bays near where I work but I figure these scum must patrol round the whole area so theyāll find it even if I park in a different one.
If they do come back and do it again at least I will be able to have a go with the nail polish remover - and worst case scenario I wait an hour and get recovered again
Bike cover fixed down with an alarmed disk lock might be a good idea - they wonāt be able to get to the ignition without drawing a lot of attention to themselves.
Itās a bit of a pain in the arse waiting for the exhaust to cool down before you leave though.
Bike was recovered through my insurance premium which included roadside recoveryā¦anyway this bike was stolen in March this year from a different location.
Aaah Nail Varnish oops! Removerā¦ahem ⦠deeper voice of course
It caught my eye because I was stranded by the AA for 5 1/2 hours recently, despite agreeing a quick recovery on the phone. Yesterday, due to attempted-theft damage, recovered in to garage by the nicest bloke (LBT) and his dog, within 1 hour of call. AA said they donāt recover due to that kind of damage (guess which roadside agency is high on my list of ādonāt renewā?)
Didnāt notice how old the thread was - nightmare that it was eventually stolen. Did you replace it?
