I got my GSXR 600 K3 in March this year but have decided that I want something bigger/better…
Been looking on biketrader and there are a few crackers that have caught my eye but my problem is which to go for… I’ll be trading in my bike and have a top end of £3500 (so looking to add £1000 for the purchase). Now, my problem is which of these three to go for… so some sensible responses would certainly help… I’m 6’03" tall and tip the scales at around 17 stone - give or take a few pounds…
Three bikes have tickled my fancy…
R1, GSXR 1000 or CBR
So, please assist me in choosing my new steed which will be mainly used for a 40 mile daily commute but then there will be weekend blasts and the odd trip up to Skye…
Never ridden the Suzuki but I have a 57 R1 and my son has a 55 Fireblade. Handling and braking wise, there is not much in it between the two. Engine wise, the Honda is more refined and has better low down pull, the R1 bogs down a bit in comparison (while all the servo’s on the intakes and the exup valve sort themselves out). There is a lot more induction noise on the R1 as well. The Honda is more cramped though, getting on the R1 it feels much roomier and there is a little less weight on the wrists. Quality is pretty good on both bikes.
Personally, I am happy with the Yamaha and would not change it for a blade. The Honda is more refined and ‘nice’ but the Yamaha has a rougher edge to it and I find it more exciting to ride. It reminds me very much of my old FZR 600R but a lot quicker.
Best bet is to test ride all 3 bikes and then decide.
