Ultimate ear

I took delivery of my ultimate ear plugs on the 30th September. I’d gone for the monitors and a second set of the squidy ones and got the patch lead for autocom. I’m happy with the plug but the patch cable has caused a bit of concern from the moment I put it in my helmet.

Firstly, it seems very thick, it’s thicker than the autocom cable. It’s caused increased wind noise. I’ve had to re-fit it several times to get it to fit comfortably in my helmet. Now to top if off I noticed it was missing form my helmet on Monday morning. I’ve check the area I keep my helmet and can’t find it. The only thing I can think of is that it’s either been stolen form my helmet, but I’ve not left it anywhere or it’s simply fallen off while I’ve been on the bike.

I’ve called Autocom and they have offered me one for £20 plus postage. They’ve gone up £5 since I bought it in September.

I really begrudge paying £20 + postage for the cable and don’t think that Ultimate ear are being very sympatric given I spent £185 with them a month ago.

Do you think they are doing there best?

Has anybody any idea how easy it would be to make the cable myself. It has a 3.5mm plug with a volume control and 2 connectors that plug into the autocom helmet wiring?

And I thought this was going to be a thread about Prince Charles

Maplins do some leads that fit the Autocomm and the Starcomm unit I have. Might be worth a try.
