ello folks, was hoping to get some feed back on tyres.
got a hornet on bridgestone battleaxes and was wondering if worth replacing with same or something else.
its town and lanes riding, not track days…yet

Ideally you would get advice from fellow Hornet owners - and there are a few on this site - but my experience of about three years using Michelin Pilot Road 2s on my Bandit 1250 has shown them to be excellent tyres.
Road Pilot 3s have recently been released and they seem to be very good. I’ll be going for those next time.
thanks. i did leave a note on the hornet forum, and got no replies lol
Here’s my input then!
ta Alex, thats just made it worse lolol
was looking at bridgestones and 2ct’s
have seen some other reviews for them, all good as well
ive got a hornet which i use for pretty much the same thing as you, maybe a bit more biased to commuting.
I just try a different tyre every time i change.
The pilot roads i had on when i got the bike were pretty good although they squared off pretty badly near the end of thier life which mad cornering a bit crap.
next set i tried were avon storm 2’s still got them on at the moment not not bad, the rear has done about 7.5 k and is still a nice round profile and lots of tread left. The front however was bald and needed replacing after about 6 which i though was unusal. Grip wise they are good…wet and dry plust you can crank the bike over a fair bit with confidence.
will probably try something else next time…maybe conti road attacks or something similar.
Unless your absolutley caning it everywhere or on the track you should be fine with most sporty-touring type tyres
Ask 10 people about Tyres and you’ll get 10 answers
If you want miles ignore sticky sports stuff and plonk some sports touring tyres on and try them, no one makes a bad tyre now days…
ta guys.
ended up going for avon storm 2 ultra’s. a mate said he had them on his sv and rated them.
will keep you updated on them, seemed to be ok in the rain last nite, only having 10miles on them lol
hopefully get them scrubbed in tomorrow with a blast to boxhill and see what they are really like.
cheers for the opinions
Dunlop Roadsmarts - Great tyre but not as good as Bridgestones in the wet
Pilot Road 2 - I’ve no experience but my mate who rides a hornet swears by them
