going to get a new set of tyres in the next few days and wondered if anyone had good suggestions…?
i’ve been playing safe for the last few years and not really done anything new tyre wise…just stayed with what the bike came with… so any ideas would be greatfull…just feel like a change…
bike details: K4 gixxer 600 running bridgestones 014’s
I was quite happy with the dunlops fitted to my R1 but when they were worn out I bought a set of Avon Vipers, they feel soooo much better, not sure how much of it is in my head but I am laying the bike down lower than ever and feeling real confident. Talk to some of the gixxa owners and see what they recommend, remember you dont know unless you try.
Michelin pilot sport great tyres in the wet as well but as Richm said its more of a personel choice if you are comfortable with a certain set then you will ride happier with that one.
i do a lot of miles on the gixxer…it’s my commuter bike aswell as the fun bike…! done about 23k in two an a half years so i’d like somthing that will give me a few more miles, grip round the twistys and good in the wet/snow…!!!
I use my Blade all year round in all weathers and the Diablo Corsa’s are a fantastic tyre in all weathers, except maybe snow.
I have toured commuted and done track days in all weathers and never had a problem with them.
The great thing about the III’s is that they have three different compounds so the centre of the tyre is harder and more hard wearing for your commute and the edges get softer for your fun and track use.
my 2ct’s have done over 4k including 1 wet track day and 2 dry ones. haven’t squared off particularly either, rear is now a mm or two off the wear marker. that’s been mostly stop/start city riding, hooning from the lights and 2-up riding on a litre bike
being careful with tyre pressure and conservative riding ‘style’ would prob make them last longer too
