Tyre recommendations for my Street Triple please..

This is the first time I owned the same bike for long enough to need new tyres so any advice gratefully accepted.

I’m by no means a speed freak and 99% of my riding is in London. I do ride whole year round so need something that is good in cold and wet conditions as well as for the few sunny days we get every year…

Cheers…

Cue a million different opinions, but my recommendation would be Sportec M5’s

Review:

Having had Corsa IIIs on before that were terrible in the wet/cold, these tyres are a blessing! Loads of grip, even when cold and/or wet and decent life too

Cheers Alex. I have been hearing/reading a lot of good things about Metzeler recently…

Anyone has any experience of Maxxis Supermaxx Diamond Sports Touring or Supermaxx Touring ?

St3R pop along to Triumphtorque.com… lots of recommendations there… I’m currently loving Avon Storm 2 Ultra’s on my T509

Cheers for that mate,

Michelin Road Pilot 2 seem to be their top recommendation - good performance and lasting 7k miles…

I have a street triple R. I’ve recently put on roadsmarts, took my wheels off and had them fitted at essential rubber

They’re a very popular choice on the street triple forum

roadsmarts seem to be the preferred rubber for the R on the change from the OEM tyres, not sure what Im going to add next.

The Pilot Road 3s are awesome in the wet and dry, and more than enough grip on the road. According to Bob at FWR they’re be fine on the track too, unless you mainly do trackdays and you’re in the fast group.
We’ll see how they are around Cadwell in a couple of weeks time

Had the Supermaxx on my GSX R750 and thought they were great, especially given the cost. As winter I changed the rear to the Touring tyre and kept the sticky on the front, never let me down (this option was actually better for me as the touring rear lasted longer than the sticky rear (oeer)).
Not sure how they’d feel on the ST though as it turns in very quickly anyway and the Maxxis have a very steep profile making the turn in even quicker.
Haven’t tried the Diamonds yet, reviews seem good but no better than the standard Maxxis tyres. They look good though:D

Hi mate

Just put a set of Michelin Pilot Road 3’s …

Feckin awesome grip in the dry, really good in the wet. Very Very confidence inspiring. They aren’t cheap, but personally well worth the money and a try.

Another thing to consider is that peeps are reporting getting over 8 to 9000 miles out of them.

Not sure about the track…

+1 on the PR3

An update: went for Michelin Pilot Road 3’s in the end and can not fault them. They are great when dry and very impressive in all this rain. I would definitely recommend!

pilot road series is always good with decent price
