Not had one, but read a buying used review about a year ago and the only point of note raised there was iffy fuelling (apparently sorted by getting a later map put in it) - loads of info if you google it…

I had the later Daytona 600, but errr, not long enough to give any valid opinion Only had it 5 days

I didn’t buy the TT600 because of the reports of poor fueling etc below 8000rpm, flat sports etc but didn’t try one so no idea how true they were. Have to say my Daytona 600 was super smooth all the way up. Bit heavy and quite big but very comfortable, smooth, no buzzing or anoying ‘features’. Would have been happy to ride to Europe on it.

Got mine for £3k from eBay, 2005 reg, qute a few around for that price but dealers still want best part of £4k. Seems almost impossible to buy cheap parts for a Truimph from eBay.

Didn’t own one of these but did own the D600 which replaced it. Almost the same frame, similar engine but with annoying fueling glitches ironed out. Engine on the D600 was a bit guttless, but really gave enough power for anyone to use. The handling was probably the nicest I’ve ever experienced (not the best, that’s my 675, but the easiest to live with and most flattering to the rider). My head bearings started to go about 18000 miles which is a bit of a worry and the engine will look like **** during the winter, all Triumph engines with bare aluminium do. With the TT600 the main to look out for is the bike has recieved all the fuel mapping updates as the bike had notorious bad fueling mapping when it came out of the shop, hence killing any real sales.

The Daytona is affordable and I lurve the way it looks . . . so . . . is it reliable?

I asked around before I bought mine and nobody had a bad word to say about them other than they are not quite as fast as the latest rockets, but the extra size and comfort easily make up for that. Having said that I think it still has 110bhp so it’s not exactly slow. Have a copy of What Bike from 2003 which reviewed it and rated it the best handling bike for road use, no known issues.

I’m going to try and keep mine and put it back on the road. If you’re interested in a red one, '05 reg with 5000 miles then I’ll let you know how my claim progresses. If the council pay up, which is quite likely, then it’ll be available either as is or repaired.

that looks sweet! is that a 600?

The angular styling would make the perfect Stealth Bomber

Ask TSM about his recent experiences on a TT600. He’s replaced it with a Kwacker now.

I had a TT600, it was my first bike. The fuelling was an issue on early bikes but was largely sorted by 2002 with updated fuel maps. Mud sticks though…

It was behind the curve performance-wise but was very solidly built, comfortable and reliable. Fully adjustable suspension and absolutely stonking brakes made for decent handling.

Main problems: front indicators made from the world’s most brittle plastic - I must have got through 4 of the buggers. Rubber strip that prevents the chain from rubbing against the swing arm needs regular replacement and is a bugger to fit.

Not a bad bike overall, not many of them about. Not nearly as pretty as the Daytona 600 / 650 that replaced it though…

Loads more info can be found here…

Dan ‘Aceboy’ has one and he’s only over in Barnet, give him a PM.

Yuh huh . . . that one’s fer sale on ebay but it’s up today

Cheers bro

my bro has one, he’s on here as AlexTT.

He’s had it about 4 years and loves it. Drop him a line.

I had no major problems with my D600 except the head bearings being on the way out when I sold it. I had it for three years and did 18000 miles on it. It is a very capable bike good for going for a blat or touring to, well just about anywhere. I replaced it with the D675 and found that so focused that I suplemented it with a Sprint RS a few months later. It is the last of the "all rounder"Supersports 600’s. I would personally go for the D650 which got rid of the disappointing mid range and had improved clutch and gear box. Oh god forgot to say how terrible the gears on the D600 were, but the 650 is supposed to have that problem sorted.

Fast Bikes magazine have a roundup of used 600’s this month including the D600.

Believe it or not, i raced one for a full season and it was 100% reliable and finished every race where I didn’t chuck it at the scenery. They put out about 94hp and i was at a big disadvantage against the jap bikes, but superb handling and bloody brilliant brakes made up for it, can’t fault them despite their poor image.
