Had a great time apart from the ride up nd the ride back. The weather on both was really bad. n the way up, the A74 between Carlisle and Glasgow was horrific, gale force winds with rain, lorry’s being blown over, all traffic down to about 40mph. The gusts of wind were the worst - it would be okish one second and the next you’d be trying to stop yourself getting blown across the 3 lanes of traffic.
The weather up in Scotland was a bit crappy for the first couple of days but it did brighten up for the rest of it. Loads of realy good roads up there (and not so good if you get yourself lost as I did - you’ll see in the pics!)
Everyone was incredibly biker friendly, made loads of tea & pee stops and everywhere was great. Without fail, every biker I passed I got a wave, nod or flash - a wee bit different to London !
I actually only took a few pics, I’ll post some of them here though I’m not up to the standards of the rest of you snappers on here.
The above pics are on the surrounding sites of my home town, the pic on this post is taken at the bottom of the ski area of the cairngorms overlooking Aviemore and Loch Morlich.
The last couple of pics was when I went out without my map and thought I’d explore … and ended up on this road and lost !!
Lol … I’m not gonna forget the A74 after that bloody journey !! On the way back down it was still windy but nowhere near as bad as it was on the way up. Bloody place !! Was cacking my pants riding up it !
Those effing pringle jumpers with legs are Kamikaze’s … the lot of em !
Would see them, slow right down to walking pace and they’d just stand in the middle of the road and look at me as if I’m stupid !! A loud rev usually got them to run but then they’d do this crazy zig zag run back and forth across the road for 100 metres !
Hopefully I’ll be at Cubana’s on Wed and Ace / Frith on Friday so will catch up with you then mate.
Oh … and the other thing up there that will frequently buzz you up there is these … sorry crap pic, just managed to get my camera out in time. They were great to watch, out most days doing the dogfight thing or whatever they do, for all to watch.
And whilst I was up there the local Battalion came home from Iraq, a piccy of my nephew climbing on a warrior and the band piping them back.
Looks like an awesome place to go for a ride mate…I spent the weekend looking for some good new roads to ride around London but got peed off in the end (suggestions anyone?)
