Traffic Light Challenge

There are 58 sets of traffic lights between my place of work and my home, excluding pedestrian crossings. Can anyone beat this?

cant beat that, only 7 for me !!!

How long’s your journey?

Not in quantity perhaps, but I do have a rather interesting right turn to make onto the A4 from Boston Manor Road (the GSK & TVU corner) which includes a set at the entrance to the 2 buildings mentioned, then you travel about 15m to the set at the actual jct with the A4, where you turn left and there is immediately (1 car length away) another set at which you turn left into a semi-circle and you guessed it another set to wait at before you can turn right (FINALLY!!!) onto the A4, only to reach a further set - which are actually the 2nd set mentioned earlier, just approached from another direction - and then I have to travel no more than 20m before I turn off into another semi-circle which is actually where I work… Before my office move I had to continue straight at that point, but that of course meant negotiating one final set which manages the traffic leaving the semi-circle to go in the opposite direction…

Now, did anyone manage to follow any of that???:hehe:

12.8 miles…

none for me, I live in the flat above my shop :D:D:D

Ian

nor me only 4 sets

humm 58 in 12.8 miles, will count tomorrow and see…

EDIT: just had a think about it, its not including ped ones, which are baout half of mine, but its about 13 in 5 miles, so not even close to yours (would be closer if including ped ones!!)…

Beat the lot of ya, 60 on my journey :frowning: Most tend to be green tho :stuck_out_tongue:

24 sets in 10 miles for me.

TBH 58 does seem quite a lot…I’m going to re-count on the way home today. I’m sure about the 18 from here to the river though!

I ride 12.5 miles to work (A24/A3). One day I counted the sets of lights at which I could be halted. There were 98 of them plus two zebra crossings. That is a halt every 200 yards on average.

I counted about 83 for me to get from Nottinghill to Dartford

26 sets of lights and half a dozen roundabouts in 4.5 miles. SE1 to W1

but if im driving at work , there are probably hundreds, but i dont have to stop at the reds if im in a hurry …yippeeee!!!:w00t::w00t::w00t::w00t:

Around 80 for me including ped lights. Enfield - Tower Hill, 12.5ish miles.

plenty of crossings on my commute too but even more annoyingly 12 speed cameras from work near heathrow to home N London. You wanna watch out for the idiots doing 80 in Mercs, BMWs who see the camara 10 yrds before… slam the breaks on… lock up and scare the **** out of everyone. Oh and then chop lanes without indicating! Nice one cheers guys

My 98 obviously includes pedestrian crossings - these are the ones that are usually red and prompted me to count in the first place. Why are you ignoring them? It is the islands with lights that make the A24 through Tooting and Balham so engaging!

about 45 kingston to trafalgar sq. (a3) (12m)

Zero for me in 15 miles, no zebra crossings, no traffic lights, no speed scameras and no dual carriageways, just a 30 zone past a golf club then after a couple of turns into a nsl and then a country lane and a quaint B road until I get to work.
