Er, both the whole “mac versus PC” thing and that analogy doesn’t really work. I don’t recall the last time a comparison between OSX and Windows would be anywhere like that.

But maybe I’m taking this more seriously than I ought to.

I agree.

Macs are ok so long as you stay within certain basic parameters and are easier to use than a PC at a superficial level - but step outside these parameters and Macs can be frustrating whereas PCs seem much more intuitive and accessible and easier for non-IT pros like me to adapt and add to and troubleshoot - I accept that it’s a totally different experience for an IT pro who has a much deeper understanding and proficiency with the Mac OS - but as an average user who has had to use both in a demanding working environment - I prefer PC.

The one that’s easier to use is the one you’ve been using longest. Generally that’s Windows because that’s what IT teaches in schools. If you use anything else for an appreciable amount of time then that becomes easier to use. OSX certainly doesn’t require any more understanding of what’s going on than does Windows - it’s long had the more consistent abstractions and been better at hiding that sort of tedium from its users - there’s no arcane drive letters, and installers don’t ask you for directory paths, for example.

Fair point - I have used PC more.
