Even though the track was WET and covered in OIL from a previous incident his lap time was just a gnat’s c0ck behind The Stig’s (who knows the track like the back of his hand)
He was so cool, and actually singing to himself as he was gunning it on track:w00t:

Saw it,made it look easy,reckon in the dry he’ll knock a good two seconds off that:D
I cant remember who they were but he beat 3 other F1 stars by a mile… i think among them were Mark Webber and Damon Hill IIRC
Only beaten by The Stig and Nigel Eyebrows:D
He didn’t even look as though he was taking it very seriously, but I’m sure underneath he was. If I could drive even half as well as that I’d be well pleased.

Was’nt hamster in the f1 car funny…i kept thinking what a twat…but then doubt i’d be very good either lol…so on second thoughts good for him that he got round the track:D
I saw it and I cant repeat the words out of my mouth at the time, other than “legend”.
The film we see is an amalgamation of laps probbaly some if his “havin a larrf” attempts. The fastest time one he was probably paying attention, even though, they rekon up to 3 secs slower on a wet track… trounced the lot of them!!!
Great show last night and what a time by Hamilton, can`t wait for him to come back on a dry day.
one thought, maybe he is the stig! or one of them, they use several people to cover the role.
He did wear white overalls and unlike everyone else who goes on there he didn’t mention the Stig… :blink:

well they may slot him in when he’s available to do a run for them, there’s never a face so he’d be just one of the many. The whole idea is to keep peeps guessing and lets face it, they have to be real good on the pace.
Anyway if the beeb can afford the money for the friday night bore, Ross, they can easily spare a few bob.
They cant have different stigs can they, surely that would put the whole leaderboard thing out of whack? Also Lewis hamilton was .2 sec off the stig’s DRY pace - in the WET so he is waaaaay better than the stig…
Listening to Johnny Vaughan on capital this morning he mentioned this and also his Top gear Lap.
Aparently you get as many laps in the car as you want as long as your lap time is coming down. As soon as your time slows, you are off.
I can’t wait to see him do a dry lap.
BTW It’s repeated Wednesday night on BBC2 at 19.00.

Very impressed to be honest. The 1st Stig was Ben Collins IIRC, but there has been more than one. The lap time for the Maserati MC12 was posted by the guy that owns it, as he wouldn’t let someone else bomb it around the track.
Was suprised at James Blunt too, didn’t come across as the pile of poo his music is, even took the mickey out of himself.
Another great show. Hamilton and Blunty came across as just normal guys, damn their eyes, not the pompous prats I was kinda hoping for. And what about Hamster in the F1 car - that was a good insight into how hard those things are to drive. As he gunned it down the straight I was thinking, wonder how fast it is in comparision to say Toseland’s CBR? Judging by Hammond’s screams it was pretty damn fast…
Hamilton is a top driver, but we knew that already no? Blunt was really funny and self-depreciating - I thought he was an excellent star.
I saw a repeat last night which had Johnny Vaughan and Denise V.Outen doing their lap and that was really good too - JV is a scream.
