Top boxes

Hi

Has anyone fitted a top box to their pillion seat, i have seen others do this and wonder how sturdy this would be.

any thoughts.

i see couriers that have done this with bungees and they seem sturdy enough.

I have heard of ppl getting a second pillion seat (works best if its seperate from the rinders seat) and bolt the topbox onto it. they then use the original when they dont need the top box

Thats what i thought of doing as the pilly seat on my SV is seperate, just not sure how it would stand up to a motorway blast.

depends of what you use  id put 3/4 bolts/screws in

Now all i have to do is find a spare pillyseat then.

Thanks for your helpful advice.

Right
Spare seat purchased
now to break out the drill

he he he!!!

remember:

measure twice drill once!!

It’s only going to be as strong as the plastic lugs that hold your seat on, so ii would still use a couple of straps as well.

yeah i suppose im thinking of mine seat that is all one. so me sitting on it will provide enough weight

Yeah Pan your right I was thinking about the dual seats.

My Kriega kit straps under my pillion seat. I know its soft luggage but I have had weekends load of kit in it, good amount of weight.
It stayed on in Germany last year @ 170 mph.
