Hi guys, I’ve just started to try and do more work on the bike myself. I’ve bought some tools and doing some odd jobs. Are there any good courses to learn about bike maintenance? Heard Morden college or something does some, anyone have some suggestions?
Haynes manual, and a wristband to wipe away the panic sweat when something you’re fairly sure is quite important but not quite sure where it came from pings past you!
Gone one better than the Haynes manual, downloaded and printed my R6 manual from the web, some 450 pages.
The college courses are fine but they are mainly day release or full time.
Are evening classes still going? At their best they were bloody brilliant.
Merton College evenings once a week… there’s another post going round somewhere, but as someone who took both the beginners and advanced course and have now saved myself a fortune in mechanic’s wages to do what is fundamentally pretty easy stuff, I HIGHLY recommend it.
Merton College has always had an excellent reputation for this stuff.
Good to know there is still some common sense out there.
That R6 manual should be suffcient as long as you know how to use a spanner
I didn’t goto any courses but just learned the hard way Trial and Error
Changed the clutch the other day and it was fairly simple
Also, have a look at this very handy site…
