Toolbox

It would appear the eastern European’s that have cleared our garden and side alley, may well have also wondered off with my toolbox which I forgot to bring in on Saturday having fitted a few things back to the bike.

Now, I’m kinda pissed about it, but at the same time, there wasn’t much valuable in it and I still have £180 here that I was supposed to be paying them and I’ve not heard anything from them.

So, is there a decent ‘starter’ toolbox I should look out for?

Where do we think I stand if I spend their payment on said toolbox? We have no contract, he offered the work to be done while they were doing next door. There is the danger he might bring back a lot of the crap he took away and dump it on our driveway…

Even if he does dump **** in your drive £180 is a lot of trips in the car to the dump.

In regards to the tools… The Halfords Pro tool kit is a good starter and it was 99.99 a while back. Don’t know if it still is. They replace any tools that break too.

Does anyone do toolboxes with some tools? I thought I saw some in Halfords, but can’t see any on their website. maybe I saw a socket/spanner set or something :doze:

No problem Andy. I think for the likes of me and you who are going to do basic things on our bikes stuff like Snap on is wasted on us. With Halfords the best thing is there are so many stores that its so easy to get broken tools replaced… They aren’t even that fussed about the receipt, keep it anyway though.

Edit: Plus if Halfords stuff is good for NumNum its good for us :).

Hmm, mind you, as I look at that, I think maybe I have more tools than I think in my ‘bike bits’ cupboard. Maybe I should just get a nice box for them…

I would say Dan is in the right ballpark with that set . Looks to have most things you would need .

Its not just good enough for me … I came home this evening to find the resident racer borrowing my halfords pro tools in preferance to his own Snap on/ Blue point tools . He reckons the spanners and socket wrenches are better :slight_smile:

Make sure you get them back because in my part of town ‘borrow’ means something else :wink:

Yeah ya gotta watch him … Its okay if they stay in the garage ,its when they migrate into the race van thats when the borrow starts getting stretched a bit :hehe:

I’ve had the Halfords Professional 150 piece kit for about 11 years now and only ever had to replace one item out of it and they did it without the receipt. Definitely recommended, but that £70 one isn’t the Professional/Advanced series so won’t have the lifetime warranty.

This is the current version of the one I’ve got and is only £99 (it seems to be permanently on sale).
The only other common tools I’ve had to buy really is screwdrivers and a spark plug wrench cos the ones in the kit don’t fit my bike.

I just bought the Halfords Professional 150 piece kit for £99, great deal. If you buy now they have a set of screwdrivers for £8 (usually over £20). The kit works well and has the NumNum™ seal of approval.

I started my own tool collection when I first started driving got a small set of teng tools/draper and some other german brand were the ratchetts are designed for truck work but I only buy very occasionally as I find it easier to wait until my dads back is turned and the sneak out with his

I’ve got this kit. its really crap! tools are painfull in the hands due to sharp edges and REALLY hard plastics. half the tools are in Imperial so its useless. Really dissapointed in the kit :ermm:

Well, on a plus note, I went out and had another look this morning, and guess what…

In the dirty, rusty outside cupboard, behind the dirty, rusty, broken dish washer, is my tool box! They put it in there for me to keep it dry I guess. Don’t I feel guilty for thinking badly of them :frowning:

It has inspired me to properly set up my tool box though. Thanks for the links and tips.
