Are traffic officers still referred to as Cheese cutters (or simialr - or worse for that matter…) on account of their white cap tops? Do they still get upset about it?
In the Met … Rats (that is their own nickname from Black Rat … Porky will have to let you know where its origins came from, I haven’t a clue).

The Rat name they seem to be quite proud of, see the sticker of the rats face on some Traffic Officers private motor - Darrylj was using it as an avatar for a while.

I know this one… the old man (god bless him) did 30 years in the Met and he told me…
The rat name comes from when they first started using bikes in the met and they were referred to as The Commissioner’s Black Rats!
