To sell my kawasaki er6f or not...

Hey, I have a 2012 kawasaki er6f, had it for 6 months now and it’s due two new tyres, possibly a new chain and also a service. So all in all if i do it all myself around £250-£300? This is all general wear and tear but it’s got me thinking… I do around 50 mile commute each day which is going to depreciate the value of the bike quite significantly I would assume.

So I’m toying with the idea of buying another motorbike, a cheap second hand one. More than likely a supermotard or something so i’m good for winter too.

Having another bike isn’t an option because I already have a car and this bike and I’m only 23 so i pay far too much insurance as it is.

Just after some fellow bikers advice and what you guys do?

Hacks are a good idea in principle but unless you do all the maintenance yourself they can be very expensive as everything wears out and needs replacing like fork seals, discs (which can warp), chain and sprockets etc. If the ER6F is running well then keep it.

Depreciation can be a red herring, many people buy on condition anyway with bikes, plus the purchase price of a new ER6F isn’t all that high to begin with so it can’t depreciate that much, maybe £2K. If you keep it for long enough then depreciation isn’t a big deal.

Pretty much what Joby said, but you also need to ask yourself is your bike just being used to commute or are you looking to use it for pleasure as well? If the latter, i’d probably keep the existing bike.

If you want a hack … you have one already run the kwack into the ground . If you want something interesting … buy a good supermoto , but be prepared for the bills that come with a good supermoto , the better a supermoto is the bigger the bills that come with it .
