To replace or not to replace

You have a helmet for 4 months and droped it from arms legth (half a meter) causing a small bumb on the top of the helmet ,do you buy a new on or not?

if it has caused a bump m8 i would replace, i have dropped mine b4 and just left a scratch and have not replaced but think would in your case.

Depending on the make, some manufacturers will check your helmet to see if it needs to be replaced. Is it only Arai that do it?

I would replace it.

You can get them sent off to the manufacturer to have it tested but as has been said it might only be Arai that do that.

Pretty conclusive result so far. Well done for creating the first poll  Sorry about the lid :ermm:

Just to let you know, if the lid fails Arai’s test then they cut the straps off so it can’t be used again

If its a UK Arai and under five years old, then you can get it sent away to Arai and they will X Ray it and let you know the outcome. This means that your lid will be away for a while, if it comes back. SO if you have a spare, and you need a UK Arai tested then fair enough. I have also heard, that if you take the lid to a vet and pay for an X Ray, they may well do it for you, so you can check the results.

Personally, from the sounds of the damage, I would bin it and start again. Your head is vital for life.

had a small off a few years ago and banged my head, lid was only 3 months old, sent it off to Arai came back about 2 weeks later as ‘safe to use’. So if it is an Arai send it off, if not then don’t risk it and bin it and get a new one.

:satisfied:Thanks for all your replies guys - and unanimous voting… :ermm:

The helmet is my girlfriends Scorpion… so no posibility of having it checked out.

a new one it is then
