The good news is THEY HAVE HATCHED SOME EGGS! Lots of chirping noises were coming out of the box this evening and now we can not wait for the little tits to poke their noses out into the world. Hope we can get a photo when they start to pop out!
in a horrible twist of death, sheer unluck and ability to remain strong i shall tell you a little story.
Last week, a beautiful crisp morning, i was travelling to work along some picturesque lanes, the sun was shining, deer were in the fields accross the valley and i was listening to the award winning Chris Moyles Radio1 Breakfast Show.
BANG! Holy shite, what was that!
I have had many bees, bugs and flying insects cream themselves onto my visor before but this was different. This was bigger…bluer…more bird like than anything i have ever hit… (apart from the dog, rabbit and nearly a badger/amongst the usual cats, foxes etc)
As i recoiled my neck back to its normal position a glance horrified in the mirror. On the lane, some meters back was this bird, flapping around on the floor. Bugger.
I walked over. It indeed was a blue tit. Not a great tit, but a blue one. Broken wing, ruffled feathers and a look of panic/pain on its face. (not sure if it was from the glare of my flou orange panels)
I gently picked it up, not knowing if it was a daddy or mummy bird, looked into its eyes and it gave one last bird sized breath before dying in my hands!!! NOOOOOOOOO!!! :crying:
Having no where to put the bird i had no choice but to sling it over the bushes into the farmers feild. Thats one less foxes dinner to worry about.
As a consolation, at least you stopped. Many wouldn’t have, regardless that it could have been left in pain for hours. At least you let it know, in its last dying breaths, that somebody gave a ****!
