Throttle Position Sensor

My self diagnostic thingy on my Diversion tells me I have a problem with the Throttle Position Sensor.

What is it and how bad is it?

ive had one of those for 20 years…ohit…ouck…it hurts

Fits on the end of the throttle bodies and does as name suggests detects the throttle position, it is usually a rheostat (variable resistor) if you have access to a multimeter, pull the plug off and measure the resistance you should see it go up and down between 2 of the 3(usually) terminals… a haynes manual should give you a way of checking it. Sometimes (although not always) they can be resurected with a bit of switch cleaner squirted into them

hello mate how old is the bike as there was a recent recall on yamahas for the throttle position sensor so give your dealer a call fella

Yeah like basejumper says…Had to have mine changed on my R1 as the bike kept stalling.

Take it to the guys at Yamaha Service Centre in Fulham.

My Diversion is a Y-reg 2001 model. I am not from London, although I work there. Is there a way to check the recall online?
