think my exhaust may be too loud

i replaced the decat with a link pipe and the endcan with the ixil.

the ixil had a backplate where it went into the link pipe but caused a slight loss in power so many people have drilled it out. oh and baffles are riveted in and staying in! much louder than the Xcone! bout twice as loud

It can never be too loud. It looks stunning though

flippin eck. There’s like no silencer now…

Providing the exhaust is not marked “for race use only” or similar, it’s almost impossible to be prosecuted for a loud exhaust.

So: It’s your call on “too loud”

not its actually E-marked as well :w00t:

no it doesnt say for race use only

yep that was loud!! on the way home everyone was staring… will put the cat back on me thinks :ermm:

BOO!

lol it is seriously loud

not mine but you should get an idea

WTF !!!.. SWEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEET !!!

I want some. How much did they set you back?

I’ll make them fit my bike lol.

At work, so can’t watch the video at the mo, would be interested to hear it in the flesh.

I was quite pleased that mine wasn’t too loud, but has the deeper tone to it.

Silly boy, they were staring in admiration:satisfied:

yeah but you have the cat still on don’t you?

That does sound awesome Pan  and looks good too

Just put my old exhaust back on as mine was a little too loud to enjoy in town, constantly trying to keep the noise down so I don’t attract too much attention/deafen mates riding with me. An old Harris can with the race “not for road use” baffles… luckily the writing has corroded over the years so very hard to see

Also had some attention from a bike policeman the other day telling me to put the baffles back in - it is pretty much straight through - looked at getting the road baffles for it, but the race ones have siezedin - so, hoping that a soak in penetrating oil might sort it. If I had a newer bike I think I’d be looking at that Ixil pipe - great sound

so keep or not? :ermm:

It goes against the grain, but that is a bit “fruity”.

If it will fit, try it with the cat in again. Because of the way those things are arranged in side, they knock a bit of the air path around and a few dB off the exhaust note.

(Sometime a few H.P. as well, dammit.)

I’ll come over with the KTM… if we can still hear it, put it back…

I think it depends what you’re using it for…If I wasn’t commuting through central london every day I’d have kept the race baffles in - as I am I really want to unseize the baffles and by the road ones that way I can use the road baffles for commuting and put the race ones in for weekend fun

I rode mine with the race baffles for about 6 months, but, then have noticed that I try to keep the revs down alot in town, so, not enjoying the bike so much on the commute, give it a go and see how you find it…That Ixil does sound great, so, would be a shame not to give it a go
