Thermal Imaging Camera On Bike?!?!

A guy I know is planning on attaching a Thermal Imaging camera to his bike!.. having the camera clipped on the front of his bike with the mini TV display between his speedo and double bubble!.. He’s said its only for use during the winter months and helps him to identify cars/people, etc when travelling in the blackness. Abit over the top???, or not a bad idea???.. To me it seems daft but also, quite fancy in a way! :ermm:

Cool. Probably a bit over the top but hey whatever makes you happy lol
He might be able to see foxes better lol

I had the check the date on this one.

Aprils fools joke right?

Sounds like overkill to me - just an added distraction - could be wrong though.

so instead of looking forward to see hazards ini front of him he’ll be looking down at the mini screen to look for the hazards that are in front of him…?

Sadly I think he’s serious!, when he spoke to me i gave him one of those long dragged out “Ohhhhh” response’s!.. He’s abit of a gadget nut to be fair… wont be too long till he attaches some wings and a propellor to his bike.

He He, way over the top.

However if he could fix it so that it would work like those helicopter pilots with a small screen next to his eye, it may work.

Like this guy…:w00t:

Too busy concentrating on whats in front of and behind me to be looking down at the area where the speedo is

wings n a prop? now that sounds fun lol

ha, I mentioned that… I myself barley look down to read what speed im doing half the time as I dont like my eyes of the road for a second. Plus I said he’d get pulled by the ole blues and twos every 5 mins with a camera attached to the bike.

Why not just get one of these :D:D

BMW have done it on one of their cars I believe. I’d have to check, but I’m pretty sure…

I reckon it could be a bit distracting!

Turn the lights off and have some fun… :w00t:

Mercedes offer it, it’s called Night View Assist.

can see for a crazy distance in the dark, if you stand in front of the car it can pick out stains on a black t-shirt etc.

So you can look at the person’s shirt and decide whether or not to run them over, on account of how clean/scruffy they are?::w00t:

Now THATS a good idea!!

Sounds like he’s having a laugh. Can’t imagine a TIC will give useful info that can’t be got just by looking, I mean, so there’s a lorry in front you, who cares how hot it is? In fact if he were staring at his screen he probably wouldn’t even see it, if it was an artic. Somewhat dangerous.

Useful to have though if he came across a smoky building with unconscious people inside who need rescuing. He’s not a firefighter by any chance?

If he must have a little tv on his bike he would be better off getting a MTT Y2K which has a rear-facing camera, and the added attraction that you can melt nearby car tyres with a blip of the throttle.

Night vision gear would be good if he was planning to ride without his headlight on, but the drawback is he would have to ask all other road users to switch theirs off as well or blindness will result.

stupid idea

maybe he just wants to spot cops hiding behind bushes!!

looks pretty nuts, though, you could have a right laugh
