The Ridgeway Trail, Sat 17.5.14

No need to check yer calenders, if yer reading this you missed it.

Well it had to be done and now it has been.

Ace to Avebury, a distance ove just over 100 miles with around 25 percent on the Ridgeway Trail and other assorted Byways. (plus 100 metres of bridlepath )

I could not have done it without the support, bonhommie and brute strength of LB`s finest, Gavin and Geoff.

Gavin and I left the Ace at 10.00am to bag an outlying section of trail near Princes Risborough, with though short presented a muddy gully challenge.

We rendezvoud with Geoff at Streatley and partook of a pre mission cuppa at a very nice cafe.

We lined up at the start.

Gavin (KTM), Geoff (BMW GS) and myself (Triumph Daytona 955)

What could go wrong?

Well suprisingly little.:w00t:

We lunched at Subway in Wantage. (Because we`re posh boys) to be continued.

Bravo!

Isn’t that the sort of road you usually take people on, Jetstream? :stuck_out_tongue:

After lunch we headed for the hills.

Where Gavin let the side down badly.

Onwards and upwards.

Then Geoff let the side down. :Whistling:

Then it went smoothly.

Then I let the side down by getting a wedgie. :ermm:

Deep rut and a rock left me pivoting on my down pipes with no traction.

Geoff does running repairs after his second senior moment.:pinch:

We celebrate.

This ride will be repeated with the proviso, sports bikes with pillions only.:w00t:

Lessons learned, ride a KTM, take control of your bladder.

Over and out, Binkie Watson.

Bravo indeed, the KTM aquitted itself well, it`s owner has bladder problems.:pinch:

Fair point, but I`m now well ino Byways, they are at best a laugh and at worst a long walk home.

Looks like I need to invest in a bike that is able to do them now lol

There, I was 100% right…no place for a S1K
Now a GS1200 I would be there in a jiffy.

Fair point, the S1K would have faired well most of the way, but there could have been issues.

fair play Binky, need to extract the big dr out of retirement I thinks :Whistling:

Great little adventure that:)… the ground was a bit hard mind, as I found out twice  … Chris just don’t know how you got through some of those tracks on yours, great riding skills I guess, helped by a few lose wires under the helmet I reckon :stuck_out_tongue:

Good to see you Gav … fun day out

Those roads look quite good compared to some we have been on this weekend.

It was a cracking day out and not a real road seen for miles!!

Glad you three enjoyed it and equally glad I wasn’t there. Chris was obviously not safe to be left unsupervised for 48 hours whilst I made a family visit elsewhere. Hopefully normal service will be resumed next weekend:)
