I am kinda surprised at how much the computer controls on this bike, that means less fiddling for the untrained.
All of the exhaust/emissions management is basically a waste since the exhaust will be the first thing to go on this bike…
For sure, but the EU basically controls whether or not the bike gets to us, so they’ve got to be appeased. That said, I know of a lot of riders who run standard exhausts. I wonder what the ratio of standard vs aftermarket exhausts is, and for what areas. We get away with a lot in London, compared to other places.
I’m not sure how useful this selectable power delivery system will be really. In principle, it sounds good that you can have a ‘wet’ map, but come on, a novice isn’t going to be riding this bike hard in the wet, are they? Seems a bit gimicky to me.
Still, electronic steering damper, refined engine and improved chassis. That’s always a good thing!
I don’t think a novice should even try to ride a thou but this bike seems to be very geared towards beginning riders.
I seriously doubt I will ever “limit” the power of the bike because I am used to breaking it loose at every corner, I guess I am old school now…
The adjustable pegs sound very very good but the extra frame holes probably weaken the frame.
Overall if this bike is put side to side with the '07 R1 the many engine upgrades of the GSXR are much better (in my opinion) than the fly-by-wire and the varible length intake trumpets.
Not to forget the slipper hydro clutch, the injectors, the electro damper, the suspension… Suzuki did good.
I will say this once and once only.
Mapping aimed at the consumer is NO USE WHATSOEVER. If you understand mapping and could make use of it on a machine, you wouldn’t use the factory designed settings aimed at “the mass market”.
Its like having a Sport setting on a Ferrari. To a man Every journo that tested the Enzo in Ferrari’s test HQ switched it off EXPRESSSLY Against the warning the Ferrari techs gave them. It was called Race, and it controlled traction, steering and suspension to give you a “race” feel, but all within EU saferty parameters…so what the HELL was the point.
The yellow '07 gixxer looks amazing in person!
And it’s also irrelevant now that Dynojet have introduced the add on for Power Commanders that allows you to switch fuelling maps on the move.
