The Hobbit - A pretty good film.

Overall, pretty happy with the film. This pseudo-review will have to be fairly short, unfortunately, as the majority of the film is spoil-able.

We’ll start with format.

Remember watching LoTR and each film having its own story and resolving its own issues? The following film adding to the storyline/lore but not much crossing over besides characters and history?
The hobbit does the opposite. It will become its own trilogy, each film following the previous, with all questions answered in the final instalment.
Filmed more like a TV show than a movie, I was not impressed by the camera work.
The 3D was largely pointless and at times took away from what was actually happening. Its also buggy as ****!

Adhesion to the story/lore

Yes, the movie does largely follow the book. It has taken some"artistic license" in parts. For some reason, wood elves were replaced with goblins
It explains how Bilbo (Frodo’s uncle came to posses the One Ring and hints towards the rise of an old evil (Revealing which old evil would spoil it!)
I enjoyed how well it followed the book.

You need to see this film. I’d reccomend seeing it in 2D as I personally am not a massive fan of 3D anyway.
If you do plan on reading the book (which you should!), this film takes you to the start of chapter 7.

I think I will do what I did with LoTR. Wait til all 3 are done then watch them.

I want to see it as it is the only book i have enjoyed and read it a few times.

I’ve been a fan of Tolkien since I was a nipper. Got to say I loved it.

I didn’t see it in 3D, mainly because it is ****.

I felt like the frame rate was a little low and in some of the action scenes I felt a little distracted by it.

I would have like to have the choice to watch the film in 48fps in 2D. Can’t wait for the BluRay release.

i really want to see this.

also did they show any trailers for films out next year.

some great looking films coming out-

After Earth, Man of Steel, Oblivion, Pacific Rim

Actually it annoys me, you have to be there at 20:30, actual film starts at 21:05. Next time I’ll turn up at 21:00.

Thirty five minutes of crappy adverts, and lame “programs”.

So long as Tom Bombadil isn’t in it. I hate that guy.

He isn’t, he was in Book 1 of the Fellowship of the Ring.
