The future of Moto GP?

as stated read the above and add your comments,

the quote from the F1 engineer says everything you ever wanted to know about F1 and is Moto GP to follow it’s lead lets hope not

Perhaps if MotoGP wants to be seen as the melting pot of innovation then it needs to reduce the regulations. Allow the teams to come up with inventive ideas. Perhaps having a limit on BHP rather than engine size and then restrict the teams to a certain volume of fuel?

Teams would have to come up with a balance of engine configuration, size, power and consumption. Could come up with some interesting designs, but it might end up the way F1 did with everyone standardising on V10 designs whereas before there had been V8, V10, and V12 designs.

Perhaps it would better if the FIA stop meddling in the rules.

They’re already restricted to a fuel amount.

The other problem is, the more you allow, the more people will spend. You end up in an arms-race and only those with deep pockets win, and the series loses out. We’ve already lost quite a few teams because they can’t afford to compete, which is a real shame.

I think you can still promote innovation, but curtail the costs involved. See, F1 is approaching being interesting this year now they’ve got rid of all the driver aids. I don’t know if the same thing would apply to MotoGP though, bikes by their nature are much more dynamic and there’s a good variation in engineering between the teams. F1 is all the same.

Not having watched F1 properly since Hill won the championship, I was suprised to see Hamilton spin up exiting a corner at the Belgium GP.

MotoGP will probably make a move to limit driver aids after the one tyre choice rule next year doesn’t really change that much.
