The best of times, followed by the worst....and lessons learnt the hard way

…an orgasm? :pinch::wink:

Seriously though great post- very atmospheric.

has anyone mentioned a neck warmer? These are particularly good for err warming your neck but also for sealing the gap between your lid and your jacket, thus preventing dribbles running down the back and gathering in your nether regions.

some of the dainese D-dry jackets come with a detatchable neck warmer.

if the boots you were using were the ones you had on at BM last week then I’m not surprised you got wet feet.
Alex is right, seal skins are amazing for keeping you warm and dry but get water inside them and it’s game over.

Oh and I did have a neck warmer a Buff one) - about the only thing that did what it was meant to - my neck was both warm and dry - pretty much the only bit of me that was!

Yes, those were the boots:crying: - going to see how the over boots work out, before I give Paul in HG Stockwell £300 for some longer ones.

oooh good point about neck warmers… I bought the Oxford balaclava… Really good, wind proof and waterproof and comes to the bottom of your throat.

considering a pair of sidi black rain’s are about £150, I don’t know why you would

Goretex for £150 - if they aren’t (GT) can you assure me that they are properly waterproof and still breathable - can’t be doing with stinky, sweaty feet!! Current boots have been brilliant for that.

Ehm, TCX Goretex boots are £230 if you’re looking for the racing type. If you’re not fussed you can get some for a lot less

Great boots TCXs…

Sidi Black Rains aren’t Goretex but it’s “Lined throughout with Tepor, water repellent breathable membrane” - in any case I’ve never heard a bad thing about Black rains…

I got a pair of these recently (albeit from Gumtree). £215 - Warm, comfy and Goretex:

Thanks so much for this - really kind of you to take the time. It’s so great to have so much experience and good will to draw upon - I really appreciate it.

Well hunny, i hear what your saying about that weather!, i came back from Brighton Sunday eve, monsoons wernt the word!, i got wet and cold, my goretex jacket actually let water in through the zip, not good, so my chest got wet, my trousers are fucked anyways so i had wet willy syndrome, and the only thing that did stay dry was my feet as i have new Goretex alpinestars boots

I am from around that area of devon, and travel down quite regularly and around Dartmoor, the weather certainly can be unpredictable!!

im need to get some new goretex trousers, but the boots and gloves are brilliant, heated gloves really help too!!!

Westie did u have ur Rukka on ?

yep i did, not happy… it went back once before for the zip

Rukka jacket and trousers racer multi top gloves and sidi st boots are holdin up lovely in all this weather

a pair of seal skins and these and you won’t go wrong http://www.sportsbikeshop.co.uk/motorcycle_parts/content_prod/22725

mine lasted 3 years until the soles wore out.

Can’t go wrong with them Sidi Black Rains - even good for off-roading in and jetwashing the mud off with not a drop getting through them!

you must have flat feet:laugh:

Ally,

i was in Spain when all that happened…i’ll tell you all about it next time i see you.

from your post i thought you had an off, glad it was just rain

i can tell you that after this experience, you’ll sail through wet weather like a breeze

Daniel - you are such a cheeky f***er!:stuck_out_tongue: But on Sunday - I would have gladly swapped - ooh to have had a windscreen wiper!! On Monday I would have wanted to swap back of course

No - thankully no ‘offs’ - just needed a really good moan to people who would completely understand what it was like. After your recent ‘adventure’ I do feel a bit pathetic for being such a drama queen, but boy, I have learnt a lot - so it was good to share. Are you feeling better now, aches and pains all gone? How’s the bike shopping going?
