My house escaped mostly unharmed…lost some bushes out front…dented up my guttering…but the roof itself is intact.
Springtime in Kansas…you never know WHAT you will get. The high temperature yesterday was 81…91 on Sunday…it was 41 degrees when I left for work this morning.
It was crazy…cowering in my basement last night listening to those things pound off the roof of my brand new house…it sounded like a hundred people with sledge hammers up there pounding away…made my stomach hurt thinking about the damage being done and knowing there was absolutely nothing I could do about it.
The inspector has already come and gone…he called this morning to say that the roof was fine…only the mechanical bits (vents etc) were dented up…it could have been A LOT worse.
I’m so glad your property wasn’t damaged more! Those pictures on the site are amazing, I love the dark ominous clouds, but wouldn’t like to be outside with a baseball (or even golfball) sized hail stone landing on my head! I take it your car was in the garage, otherwise it’d be dented, too.
Pea size hail was falling as I was attempting to drive the last 3 miles to my house…and torrential rain…I couldn’t hear inside my car…could barely see the end of the hood. I got the car into my garage and as the garage door was coming down behind me, I could hear the unmistakable sound of BIG hail hitting the roof…just crazy.
Pictures don’t do these storms justice…you have to SEE it…HEAR it…to really believe that such a thing is even possible.
