That was an interesting journey to work....

Coming into London on the A2 this evening at about 6pm, coming away from the lights at Kidbrooke towards the Sun in the Sands Roundabout…go to change into third, pull the clutch in, select the gear, release the clutch… and the clutch lever remains in… the bloody cable broke.

Managed to get the bike off the dual carriageway onto Shooters Hill Rd… called recovery and spent 90 mins watching the traffic go by…

Still it means I didn’t have to go to work today, took the night off, which works out rather well in the end since I’m going to Brands tomorrow:)

I had that happen last year, coming back from Borrough, got to Westbourne Grove, got to the lights, pulled clutch in to change gear and snap, luckily was basically home!, is it sorted now?

It’s been recovered home…I’ll probably get it sorted Monday

Thanks for the reminder guys.

I always used to carry a length of bare cable and a couple of solderless (screw fit) nipples and more than once got home on a temporary fix, once from Portsmouth to south London. All bought for pennies from a cycle shop.

That plastic bag is still in the garage somewhere. Must find it.

So much better than waiting for recovery.
